InfCare HIV is an electronic decision support tool and research database for HIV.
InfCare HIV was launched in Sweden in 2004. The system is now used in all interactions between HIV patients and Swedish healthcare providers. The core module provides decision support with clear graphical summaries of complex data from many sources (Figure 1). This data, which may date back a long way, is easy to view using InfCare HIV. Decision support is not just used for “one-to-one” consultations, but also via a projector at treatment conferences or, using the RealQ® consultancy tool, via distance conferencing. This is of considerable value and provides mutual support for colleagues.
